The Nature Effect

TNE Logo

The Nature Effect is a catalyst for personal, professional and community transformation. We offer continuing professional development and coaching to people and organisations in education and social change. We also offer retreats, weekend workshops and on-going groups for people wanting to learn, grow, flourish, reflect and reconnect. We collaborate with communities, schools and various peer groups.

Our ‘golden thread’ is explicit inspiration from the natural world – through nature metaphor, embodied learning, time spent in the wilds, use of natural materials and creation of outdoor spaces and events.

We have a rich pool of associates skilled in these areas of work who are always cooking up new ideas, and we like to connect them with like-minded colleagues, practical resources and methodological tools for effective working. We welcome contact from potential new associates. We are largely based in Oxford City but our Associates work nationally and internationally. Find out more about our work here

Mentoring Girls in Oxford; past, present and future An opportunity to hear about the girls' mentoring group, and learn how to create your own

For two years Emma Hood and Jackie Singer, as associates of The Nature Effect, have run a monthly mentoring circle for girls in East Oxford, called The Wolf Clan. We've been on two weekend camping trips to the woods. As we enter our third year with the same girls, we want to share what we have been doing and what we have learnt. We are also aware that there are very many more girls who could benefit from mentoring, and we would like to grow the model. Specifically, some of The Wolf Clan have sisters who want to start now!

Would you like to become a mentor?
Do you have questions?
Please come and be part of the conversation!

Sense of Place - booklet and training film coming soon Mindful learning together with Parents, Grandparents and Practitioner

We have been developing new ways of exploring the outdoors and connecting to our values about the wider ecological world.  Nature Effect director Annie Davy has been leading the Sense of Place project, working directly with parents, teachers and grandparents  (see BLOG:  Click HERE.) and with colleagues and film maker Zoe Broughton. She feels very lucky to have been able to engage with such a wide range of interesting people in this work .  We are working on releasing materials and a training film very soon.  In the meantime the work is finding its way to various training programmes for early years teachers across the country - and was well received at the Montessori International conference in London on March 12th, where Richarch Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods  also spoke.  His new book Vitamin N is due out soon.   If you are interested in hearing more about A Sense of Place please  join our newletter mailing, or email us directly
